Everything you need to know to prepare your summer crossing to Morocco. Ports, fares, required documents, and practical tips to avoid long queues.

Opération Marhaba 2026 runs from 5 June to 15 September. The main ports of entry are Tanger Med (the most modern and efficient), Nador Beni Ensar, and Al Hoceima. The port of Sète in France and Algeciras in Spain are the most popular departure points for MRE travelling from France. Ferry fares range from €200 to €600 return, depending on the operator, travel period, and type of vehicle. Book at least two months in advance to secure the best slots in July and August. Required documents: valid passport, vehicle registration certificate, and a green card insurance policy covering Morocco. Practical advice: arrive at the port at least three hours before boarding during peak season, opt for overnight crossings to avoid the heat, and carry water and provisions for children. The Moroccan reception scheme provides dedicated MRE areas at ports, offering assistance, currency exchange, and information services.
