The Casablanca Stock Exchange rose 12% in 2025 and is maintaining its momentum in 2026. For MRE seeking Moroccan market exposure outside real estate, the MASI offers an accessible option from abroad.

The Casablanca Stock Exchange (BVC) recovered in 2024 and 2025 after a period of underperformance. In 2026, the MASI (Moroccan All Shares Index) is growing in a favourable macroeconomic environment. For MRE looking to invest in Morocco outside of real estate, the Moroccan stock market deserves serious consideration.

The MASI in 2026

The MASI closed 2025 up approximately 12%, driven by banking stocks, telecoms and cement companies. In 2026, Morocco's expected GDP growth of 4.5 to 5% creates a supportive backdrop for listed company earnings.

The most active sectors by flow include banks (Attijariwafa Bank, BCP, BMCE), insurance (Wafa Assurance, Atlanta), telecoms (Maroc Telecom) and food processing (Centrale Danone, Cosumar).

The market remains relatively illiquid compared to European exchanges. Daily volumes run around 200 to 400 million dirhams. It is not a short-term trading market.

How to invest from abroad

MRE can invest through a securities account opened at a Moroccan bank or with a brokerage firm accredited by the AMMC (Moroccan Capital Markets Authority).

Account opening from abroad requires a passport, proof of foreign residence and a Moroccan bank account number (MDM account or convertible dirham account).

Funds invested from abroad are fully repatriable, including dividends, without exchange restrictions, provided the original sums were transferred through official banking channels.

What to check before investing

The AMMC publishes issuer transparency reports and alerts on suspended stocks. Before investing in a specific stock, reading the latest annual report and analyst notes from Moroccan brokerages (CDG Capital, BMCE Capital Bourse, Attijari Intermediation) is recommended.

The Moroccan market is not accessible through standard European brokers. Investing requires going through an AMMC-accredited bank or intermediary.
